How we help:

Women | Wāhine

Supporting our Women | Wahine

You may be questioning what you are experiencing, feeling uncertain about a relationship, overwhelmed by circumstances, or simply needing someone safe to talk to. Whatever your situation, you deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and to have your voice heard.

At Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge, we provide confidential, free, and non-judgemental support. Our specialist advocates take the time to listen, understand your circumstances, provide information, advocacy, and holistic support that is guided by your choices and priorities.

Whether you are seeking immediate assistance, exploring your options, or simply wanting to talk, we are here to support you in a way that feels safe and right for you.

When to seek support

You do not need to be certain that what you are experiencing is “serious enough” to reach out. Many wāhine seek support when something doesn’t feel right, when things feel confusing, unsafe, or overwhelming.

Questioning whether your experience is abuse
Not wanting to leave, but needing support or clarity
Wanting someone to listen and understand
Concerned about the impact on your tamariki

Feeling that things may be escalating or becoming unsafe
