Supporting Men | Tane
Tu Tāne Tu is a family violence prevention and behaviour change programme for tāne who want to better understand the impacts of their behaviour and develop safer, healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
The programme provides a confidential, respectful, and supportive environment where participants can explore the beliefs, attitudes, behaviours, and patterns that contribute to the use of violence, abuse, or controlling behaviours. Through guided reflection, education, and practical skill development, participants are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions and build the knowledge, insight, and strategies needed to create positive and lasting change.
Support may be provided through individual sessions, group programmes, and tailored interventions, depending on the needs of participants and the programme pathway. Facilitated by trained practitioners with expertise in family violence prevention and behaviour change, the programme focuses on accountability, respectful relationships, emotional regulation, communication skills, and understanding the impacts of violence on partners, tamariki, whānau, and wider communities.
At its core, Tu Tāne Tu supports tāne to strengthen self-awareness, build healthier relationships, and develop safe, respectful, and non-violent ways of being.
When to get help?
Many tāne come to us because they want to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and make positive changes in their lives. Some may be concerned about behaviours they have used, while others may be seeking support to manage conflict differently, improve communication, or break patterns that are no longer serving them or those around them.
Seeking support is a positive and proactive step. It reflects a willingness to learn, take responsibility, and create a safer future for yourself, your whānau, and those important to you. Whatever has brought you here, our team offers a confidential, respectful, and supportive space to explore change and develop the skills and understanding needed to move forward.
