Supporting a Comprehensive Holistic Healing and Empowerment space...

If you have ever contemplated how you can support us please read...

Firstly, Whānau violence encompasses a range of behaviors, including physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse. It can occur between partners, parents and children, siblings, and extended family members. Importantly, it is not confined to any particular demographic—it affects people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds.

One of the key challenges in addressing whānau violence is breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma, systemic inequalities, and socio-economic pressures can contribute to the perpetuation of violence. Intimate partner violence (IPV) disproportionately impacts women, often resulting in physical and psychological harm, economic instability, and barriers to seeking support.

At ODWR we recognize the extended implications of whānau family violence and our focus is on the interconnected nature of intimate partner violence, which affects not only individuals in the relationship but also tamariki and rangatahi witnessing or experiencing violence within their whānau.

At ODWR, we understand that addressing intimate partner violence comprehensively means being resourced to consider the well-being of every member who makes up the holistic whānau. Our focus is to move into a space where our services encompass whānau, taking decisive action, and providing comprehensive support. We aim to create safer environments where healing and empowerment can flourish for all members of the whānau. Through our dedication and commitment, we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by intimate partner violence, fostering a future where all whānau can thrive.

We would love to hear how you could support us to support whānau in your community.

Could you hold a fundraising event? Could you collect new winter PJ's etc from your team or friends? Are you an ace at writing funding applications??? Could you give a couple hours of your precious time over a month helping sort donations? We would love to hear from you with your ideas...
